Case Study: How the Outward Bound Experience Drives Cox Enterprises’ Executive Leadership Program
Cox Each year Cox Enterprises runs an intensive Executive Leadership Development Program, which targets high-potential managers who are being groomed to run one of Cox’s varied businesses, such as a television station or automobile auction company.

Challenge a battle-hardened senior management team to change directions. Meld a talented but untested group of new employees into a high-performing team. Outward Bound Professional’s Wilderness programs take place in a setting, away from telephones, e-mails, fax machines, and other daily distractions. The result? Increased focus on goals and objectives.

Through activities such as rock climbing, backpacking, canoeing, ropes course challenges, and problem-solving initiatives, the wilderness environment provides teams and individuals with an opportunity to immediately see the results of leadership and teamwork. Canoer Outcomes can involve higher levels of focused communication, leadership styles, conflict management, building consensus, creating a leadership culture that understands risk taking and its perceived and real risks.

Time spent in this environment allows high level thinking that can align a team behind organizational goals. New team members are quickly brought into the culture of the group as the participants develop methods for effectively working and leading.

We work with you to focus on goals and then provide the activities that will help your team to meet your objectives and take back real tools to the workplace.
